CIOE 97.5 FM Launches a Bursary to Support Emerging East Coast Artists
Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia: CIOE-97.5 FM has today officially launched an annual Bursary Fund to support New and Emerging East Coast Music Artists. Funded by CIOE’s current and ongoing 50/50 Online Lottery, the bursary will provide $500 to each of two recipients and will be presented in April 2021.
In making the announcement, CIOE Chairman, Jim Robson, said the annual bursary fund, initially valued at $1000, will be increased each year as more funds become available through the radio station’s 50/50 Fundraisers and the categories of recipients broadened to include groups and specific genres of music.
The application process will start today on the CIOE website: www.communityradio.ca and will be open until February 28, 2021. A special review committee, comprised of industry professionals and East Coast Artists, will process, and review the applications for presentation in April 2021. Mr. Robson noted that the Bursary will be open to artists within the Provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland who have been established for at least one year and require support and assistance for equipment, studio time, demo creation, marketing and promotion.
As the Home and the Voice of East Coast Music, CIOE currently broadcasts in excess of 100 hours per week of East Coast Music through our dedicated series of special music-based programs. “I continue to be amazed at the tremendous amount of world-class talent that is waiting to be discovered throughout Atlantic Canada, and CIOE is deeply committed to our mission to promote and expose this rich treasury of talent across Atlantic Canada, the Nation, and globally through our worldwide live streaming via the internet,” says Mr. Robson.
Prior to the spread of COVID-19, CIOE staged monthly live East Coast Concerts from its 120-seat built in Concert Hall, as well as quarterly East Coast Music Showcases at the Spatz Theatre. Once COVID-19 is behind us, CIOE will resume its East Coast Concerts, sponsor a series of Boot Camps for new and Emerging Artists, and conduct Song Writing Circles, among other talent development initiatives.
